Correct Answer - Option 4 : 18

Given :

A batsman has an average of 'x' in 6 innings

After scoring 48 runs in 7th innings, increases average by 5 runs

Formula used :

\(Average = \frac {Total \ runs \ scored}{Total \ innings \ played}\)

Calculation :

Average of x in 6 innings

⇒ Total runs in 6 innings = 6x

After scoring 48 runs, the average increased by 5 runs

⇒ \(\frac{6x+48}{7} = x+5\)

⇒ 7x + 35 = 6x + 48

⇒ x = 13

⇒ Average after 7th innings = x + 5

∴ The average run after 7th innings is 18
