Correct Answer - Option 4 : 50

Given:

Total students = 40

Calculation:

According to the question:

Number of girls = 40% of 40

⇒ (40 × 40)/100 = 16

Number of boys = 40 - 16 = 24

Let average score of girls be x

Then, average score of boys = 140x/100 = 7x/5

Again,

16 × x + 24 × 7x/5 = 40 × 62

⇒ (80x + 168x)/5 = 40 × 62

⇒ 248x = 40 × 62 × 5

⇒ x = (40 × 62 × 5)/248 = 50

∴ The average score of girls are 50.
