    • His work is a general history of India covering the time from the Ghaznavids up to 1593-94.
    • He was Akbar's Mir Bakhshi.
    • This book is very important for the reconstruction of the history of Bengal in the Sultanate period.
    • Bengal is famous for the lack of historical materials in the pre-Mughal period.
    • The Tabaqat is the first of the two histories written in the Mughal period which includes a separate chapter beginning with the conquest of Bakhtiyar Khilji.
