If the ruling gradient is 1 in 150 on a particular section of broad gauge and at the same time a curve of 4 degree is situated on this ruling gradient, what is the allowable ruling gradient ?

Correct Answer - Option 3 : 1 in 196

Explanation:

Given,

Degree of curve = 4 °, Ruling Gradient = 1 in 150 

Grade compensation for BG curve = 0.04 × D = 0.16%

Ruling gradient = \(\frac{1}{{150}} \times 100 = 0.67\% \)

∴ Allowable gradient = 0.67 – 0.16 = 0.51%

 = 0.51/100 = 1 in 196
