Correct Answer - Option 4 : 5

Given,

Product of two consecutive odd numbers = 35

Calculation:

Let the smaller odd number be a.

Hence, next odd number = a + 2

According to the question

⇒ a (a + 2) = 35

⇒ a2 + 2a = 35

⇒ a2 + 2a – 35 = 0

⇒ a2 + 7a – 5a – 35 = 0

⇒ a (a + 7) – 5 (a + 7) = 0

⇒ (a + 7) (a – 5) = 0

Taking,

⇒ a – 5 = 0

⇒ a = 5

The smaller odd number = 5
