• Bureau of Indian Standards - 
  • A national standard body, BIS has been established under the BIS Act 2016.
  • The Act was originally enacted in 1986 and the BIS came into existence in December 1986. 
  • A new act (to replace the BIS Act of 1986) was introduced in the Lok Sabha in 2015, which was subsequently passed by both houses of the Parliament. The new act came into force in 2017.
