Correct Answer - Option 5 : Relation can't be established or x = y

I. x2 – 13x + 40 = 0

⇒ x– 8x – 5x + 40= 0

⇒ x(x – 8) – 5(x – 8) = 0

⇒ (x – 8)(x – 5) = 0

⇒ x = 5 or 8

II. y– 11y + 24 = 0

⇒ y2 – 3y – 8y + 24 = 0

⇒ y(y – 3) – 8 (y – 3) = 0

⇒ (y – 3)(y – 8) = 0

⇒ y = 3 or 8

x sign y
5 > 3
5 < 8
8 > 3
8 = 8

 Relation can't be established or x = y
