  • The Constitution of India was adopted on 26 November 1949.
  • Its implementation formally started on 26 January 1950. More than fifty-five years after that, the same constitution continues to function as the framework within which the government of our country operates.
  • Indian constitution is not a static document and it can be altered. But at the same time, it is a sacred document. Indian constitution is above ordinary law. It provides the framework to the government for democratic government. 

  • Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was a leader of the Dalits (Scheduled Castes; formerly called untouchables) and law minister of the government of India (1947–51).
