Correct Answer - Option 1 : 25 litres

Given:

Amount of mixture of milk and water is 50 liters

Actual ratio of milk and water is 3 : 2

Ratio required of milk and water is 2 : 3

Calculation:

In actual ratio

Quantity of milk in the mixture,

⇒ (50 × 3)/5 liters = 30 liters

Quantity of water in the mixture,

⇒ (50 – 30) liters = 20 liters

According to question new ratio = 2:3

Let the quantity of water added in the mixture be x liters

Then,

Milk : water = 30 : (20 + x)

⇒ 2/3 = 30/(20 + x)

⇒ 90 = 40 + 2x

⇒ 50 = 2x

⇒ x = 25 liters

The quantity of water to be added in the mixture is 25 liters.
