The correct answer is 25%.

  • Right to Education Act(RTE) 2009
    • It is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted on 4 August 2009, which describes the modalities of the importance of free and compulsory education for children.
    • This act is for children between the age of 6 to 14 years in India under Article 21 A of the Indian constitution.
    • Under Section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act, all schools- private, aided, unaided or special category-  must reserve at least 25% of their seats at the entry-level(class one) for students from economically weaker sections and disadvantaged groups.
    • India became one of 135 countries to make education a fundamental right of every child when the act came into force on 1 April 2010.
    • The bill was passed by the cabinet on 2 July 2009, Rajya Sabha passed the bill on 20 July 2009, and the Lok Sabha on 4 August 2009.
