Correct Answer - Option 1 : Flow irrigation

Explanation:

Flow irrigation:

(i) These are also called gravity irrigation. It is the type of irrigation in which water is available at a higher level to enable supply to the land by gravity flow.

Lift Irrigation:

(i) When groundwater lifted up to be used as irrigation water or water supply is at too low a level to run by the gravitation of the land.

(ii) In this water is lifted up by some mechanical means such as pump.

Drip irrigation:

(i) This is also called as trickle irrigation as water is directly applied to the root zone of the plant using a drip nozzle.

(ii) In this method evaporation and percolation losses are very less.

(iii) This is the most efficient method.

Sprinkler irrigation:

(i) In this method of irrigation water is applied through a network of pipes and pumps. This method is suitable:

  • when topography is irregular or rolling.
  • when water table is high
  • when water is not easily available
  • for more permeable as well as less permeable soil
