Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 3 : 5.7

Explanation:

The ultimate bearing capacity of any soil is given as

Q = CNc + qNq + ½ BγNγ

Effect of type of soil:

(i) For purely cohesive soil (Clay)

ϕ = 0 and C > 0

Hence, Nc = 5.7, Nq = 1 and Nγ = 0

Equation of bearing capacity for cohesive soil reduced to, Qu = 5.7C + q

(ii) For a Non-cohesive soil, C = 0 and ϕ > 0°

Equation of bearing capacity for Non-cohesive soil reduced to, Qu = qNq + ½ BγNγ
