Given

CP of 30 purses and 20 wallets = Rs.8500

Calculation

Let the C.P. of 1 purse be Rs. x and that of 1 wallet be Rs. y,

∴ 30x + 20y = 8500    ----(i)

Dividing equation (i) by 10,

⇒ we have ⇒ 3x + 2y = 850    ----(ii)

Multiplying eq (ii) by 39,

⇒ 39 × (3x + 2y) = 850 × 39

⇒ 117x + 78y = Rs. 33150

∴ The total cost of 117 purses and 78 wallets = Rs.33150
