Correct Answer - Option 4 : 150 litre

Given:

Arun has a mixture of Alcohol and water

Out of 50 litres, 40% is Alcohol.

Formula used:

Percentage = (Part value/Whole value) × 100

Calculation:

Let x litre be the alcohol in the mixture,

And y be the new amount of the mixture

Amount of alcohol in the mixture

⇒ 40% = (x/50) × 100

⇒ x = 20 litre

The amount of alcohol is constant in the mixture

⇒ 10% = (20/y) × 100

⇒ y = 200 litre

The amount of water added is

⇒ 200 - 50 = 150 litre

∴ 150 litre of water is added.
