Correct Answer - Option 4 : Rs. 10000

Given:

Two successive discounts are 10% and 20%

Selling Price = Rs. 7200

Formula Used:

 % = X% + Y% - (X% × Y%)/(100)

Where, X%, Y% are discount %

S.P = M.P × (100 - D%)/100

Where, S.P = Selling Price, M.P = Marked Price, and D = Discount

Calculation:

Net discount % = 10 + 20 - {(10 × 20)/100}

⇒ 30 - 2

⇒ 28%

According to the formula used,

7200  = M.P × (100 - 28)/100

⇒ 7200 = M.P × (72/100)

⇒ M.P = 10,000

∴ The marked price is Rs. 10,000.
