Correct Answer - Option 4 : 3 ∶ 5

Concept-

The reinforced concrete wall is designed as a compression member. The reinforced concrete wall is used in a case where the beam is not provided and load from the slab is heavy or when the masonry wall thickness is restricted.

As per clause 32.5 of IS 456:2000

  • The minimum ratio of vertical reinforcement to the gross concrete area shall be
  • 0.0012 for deformed bars not larger than 16 mm in diameter.
  • 0.0015 for another type of bar.

The minimum ratio of horizontal reinforcement to the gross concrete area shall be

  • 0.0020 for deformed bars not larger than 16 mm in diameter.
  • 0.0025 for other types of bars.

The ratio of minimum vertical reinforcement to minimum horizontal reinforcement = \(\frac{{0.0012}}{{0.0020}} = \frac{3}{5}\)
