Correct Answer - Option 2 :

It comes out with the carbon dioxide during exhalation

  • The air we breathe is a mixture of many gases like nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor.
  • The composition of the air we inhale includes 20.94 % Oxygen, 0.04 % Carbon dioxide, 79.02 % nitrogen, and other trace gases, while the air we exhale out includes 16.49 % oxygen, 4.49 % carbon dioxide and, 79.02 % nitrogen.
  • This clearly indicates that our body utilizes the Oxygen and convert it into carbon dioxide as the amount of Oxygen is less and Carbon dioxide is more in the exhaled air
  • But, the amount of nitrogen remains the same, this shows nitrogen does not get utilized and It comes out with the carbon dioxide during exhalation
