Correct Answer - Option 2 : 17 years, 7 years

Given:

Two year ago, 3 × Ramesh = Suresh

After three years, 2 × Ramesh = Suresh

Calculation:

Let the present age of Ramesh be r years and Suresh be s years

Age before 2 years

⇒ 3 × (r - 2) = s - 2

⇒ 3r - 6 = s - 2

⇒ 3r - s = 4      ----(i)

Age after 3 years

⇒ 2 × (r + 3) = s + 3

⇒ 2r + 6 = s + 3

⇒ 2r - s = -3      ----(ii)

After solving equation (i) and (ii) we get

⇒ r = 7 years

Put the value of r into equation (i)

⇒ 3 × 7 - s = 4

⇒ s = 21 - 4

⇒ s = 17 years

∴ The age of Suresh and Ramesh is 17 years and 7 years.
