Correct Answer - Option 3 : 56

Given:

Average of consecutive observations are x, (x + 2), (x + 4) and (x + 6) is 53.

Concept used:

Average = Sum of observations/Number of observations

Calculation:

Average = [(x) + (x + 2) + (x + 4) + (x + 6)]/4

⇒ 53 = (4x + 12)/4

⇒ 53 × 4 = 4x + 12

⇒ 212 = 4x + 12

⇒ 212 - 12 = 4x

⇒ 200 = 4x

⇒ 50 = x

Largest observation = x + 6

⇒ 50 + 6

⇒ 56

∴ The value of largest observation is 56.
