Correct Answer - Option 2 : 100 litre

Given:

The ratio of milk and water = 3 : 1.

The capacity of a can = 50 litre

Calculation:

Quantity of milk in a can = 50 × (3/4) = 150/4 = 37.5 litre

Quantity of water  in a can = 50 - 37.5 = 12.5 litre

As per question we need to add water to get quantity = 1 : 3

⇒ 37.5/(12.5 + x) = 1/3 ,       (cross multiple)

⇒ 112.5 = 12.5 + x

⇒ 112.5 - 12.5 = x

⇒ x = 100

∴ The quantity of water that has to be added further is 100 litre
