In the JEE mains exam, the minimum qualifying percentage for NITs and other colleges is 45% and 80% respectively. If Aman scored 1225 marks and missed the chance of studying in NIT by 125 marks, find what percentage of other colleges qualifying mark Aman scored in actual, if total marks of the JEE main exam is same for all (NITs and others) colleges.

Correct Answer - Option 2 : 51%

Given 

Marks scored by Aman = 1225 

Formula Used 

Percentage = (Actual/Total) × 100 

Calculation 

Qualifying marks for NITs = 1225 + 125 = 1350 

Total marks for JEE mains = (1350/45) × 100 = 3000 

Qualifying marks for other colleges = 80% of total marks = (80/100) × 3000 = 2400

Percentage marks Aman scored with respect to qualifying marks = 1225/2400 ×  100 ≈ 51

∴ Percentage of marks Aman scored is 51%.
