Correct Answer - Option 1 : 5/24

Concept:

  • For two events A and B, we have: P(A ∪ B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A ∩ B).

Calculation:

Given: P(Steelers will win) = 1/6, P(Jet will win) = 1/12 and P(Steelers and jets will win) = 1/24

P(One will win) = P(Steelers or jets will win)

P(One will win) = P(Steelers will win) + P(Jet will win) - P(Steelers and jets will win)

P(One will win) = (1/6) + (1/12) - (1/24)

P(One will win) = 5/24
