Correct Answer - Option 2 : Iron

The correct answer is Iron.

  • The thermal conductivity of a substance is the ability of that substance to conduct heat.
  • A measure of the “goodness” or the ”badness” of a substance for the flow of heat through conduction is provided by its thermal conductivity.

  • Good Conductors:
    • Materials that allow heat to pass through them easily are called good conductors of heat.
  • Bad Conductors
    • Materials that do not conduct heat as easily and quickly as metals do are bad conductors.
  • Materials that direct heat and warmth electricity are known as good conductors. Others are known as bad conductors.
  • A decent conductor normally has charged particles like electrons or particles in them. Copper is a metal that has free electrons accessible for conduction Wood elastic and water are non-metals and don't have free electrons for conduction. So they are bad conductors of electricity and heat.
  • The state of the atoms influences the rate of energy transfer. Low energy atoms as solids transfer energy the best. High energy atoms as gases are the worst energy transferees. Liquids in between. The actual heat ow rate is limited by the worst component in the contact. This can be the energetic state of either atom or their contact zone or their electron density
