Correct Answer - Option 2 : 80%

Given:

X is 20% more than Y

Calculation:

As X is 20% more than Y

∴ If Y = 100x then X = 120x

For Y to become 50% more than X, Y must become 180x     [∵ 100% of X = 120 x ⇒ 50% more than X = 120x + 60x = 180x]

∴ Percentage by which Y should be increased = (180x – 100x)/100 × 100 = 80%
