Correct Answer - Option 3 : 250

Given:

Difference between two numbers is 100.

Calculation:

Let the two numbers be A and B. A decreased by 15% and B is increased by 19%.

According to statement, A × (85/100) = B × (119/100)

⇒ A × 5 = B × 7

⇒ A/B = 7/5

Let A be 7x and B be 5x

Now, difference = A – B = 7x – 5x = 2x = 100

⇒ x = 100/2 = 50

Smaller number = B = 5x = 5 × 50 = 250

∴ Smaller number is 250
