Correct Answer - Option 4 : Sleet

The correct answer is Sleet.

  • The conversion of water vapour into the water is called condensation.
  • It is caused due to the loss of heat.
  • The capacity to hold water vapour may saturate when the moist air is cooled and the extra water vapour then condenses.
  • Condensation depends upon the relative humidity of the air and the amount of cooling.
  • Precipitation consisting of small ice pellets formed by the freezing of raindrops or of melted snowflakes is called sleet.
  • Sleet is liquid water that freezes before it hits the ground. Hence it is not the form of condensation.

  • Dew - Moisture condensed from the atmosphere, especially at night, and deposited in the form of small drops upon any cool surface.
    •  Dew is the result of water changing from a vapor to a liquid.
  • Fog - When the temperature of an air mass containing a large quantity of water vapour suddenly falls down, condensation takes place within itself on fine dust particles.
    • Fog is a kind of cloud but is very close to the ground.
  • Frost - Frost forms on cold surfaces when condensation takes place below freezing point (0° C).
