Correct Answer - Option 1 : Increase

CONCEPT:

  • Charge: The fundamental property of any substance which is responsible for electrostatic force is called as charge. It is denoted by Q.
  • The SI unit of charge is Coulomb(C).
  • The charge on an electron is e = -1.6 × 10-19 C.
  • The mass of the electron is 9.1 × 10-31 kg.
  • The charge on a proton is e = + 1.6 × 10-19 C.

EXPLANATION:

  • Since charge on electron is negative and charge on a proton is positive. When we are putting the negative charge on a neutral conductor then we just giving some electrons to the sphere.
  • If we give some electron on the sphere then it will become negatively charged and the mass of the sphere will increase which is equal to the mass of the electrons added to the sphere.
  • Thus the mass of the sphere will increase. So option 1 is correct.
