Correct Answer - Option 1 : 6 liters

Given:

Original mixture 9 litre

In 9 litres of mixture Wine : water = 1 : 2

Calculations:

Amount of wine in the 9 litre mixture = (1/3) × 9 = 3 litres

Now the mixture contains 3 litres of wine which is 20% of the total mixture.

Volume of the mixture = (100/20) × 3 = 15 litres

Amount of water added = Volume of the mixed solution – Volume of the original mixture

⇒ 15 – 9 = 6 litres

∴ 6 liters of water should be added.
