Correct Answer - Option 3 : 57 sec

Given:

The speed of a train is 40m/s

It crosses a pole in 17 sec.

Formula Used:

Speed = Distance/Time

Calculation:

Let the length of a train be l,

According to the question,

⇒ 40 = l/17

⇒ Length of a train = 40 × 17

⇒ Length of a train = 680 m

Now the total length to cover,

Length of a platform + Length of a train

⇒ 680 + 1600

⇒ 2,280 m

Time to cover this distance,

⇒ 40 = 2,280/Time

⇒ Time = 2,280/40

⇒ Time = 57 sec

∴ The time taken to cross the platform is 57 sec.
