Calculation:

Here total votes = 100%,

Invalid votes = 2%

Valid votes = 100% - 2% = 98% = 104000 × (98/100) = 101920

So, votes polled in favour of the candidate = 101920 × 37½ %

⇒ 101920 × (3/8) = 38220

∴ The required answer is 38220
