Correct Answer - Option 2 : Volt

CONCEPT

  • The amount of work done in moving a unit positive charge in an electric field from infinity to that point without accelerating the charge against the direction of the electric field is electrostatic potential.
  • The electrostatic potential is given by

\(\Rightarrow V = \frac{W}{q}\)

Where V = Electrostatic potential , W = Work q = Charge

EXPLANATION:

  • The electrostatic potential is given by

\(\Rightarrow V = \frac{W}{q}\)

Substituting the corresponding values of units in the above equation, the equation becomes

\(\Rightarrow V = \frac{Joule}{Coloumb}\)

\(\Rightarrow V = J/C \)

  • Unit of electric potential is J/C is abbreviated as Volt. Hence option 2 is the answer
