  • Swachcha Bharat Mission was launched in India on 2nd October 2014.
  • Objective
    • To improve cleanliness in the rural areas through Solid and Liquid Waste Management activities.
    • To make Gram Panchayats clean, sanitize, and open defection-free (ODF).
  • It works under the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
  • It aims to make India clean and ODF.
  • Approx 10 crore toilets have been constructed since the launch of the mission.
  • Fund sharing between center and state:
    • 90:10 in North-eastern states, Himalayan states, and UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
    • 60:40 in the rest of the states.

  • Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojna (HRIDAY):
    •  It was launched on 21st January 2015.
    • Aim:
      • To conserve and rejuvenate the rich cultural heritage of India.
      • To bring economic growth and urban planning in selected heritage cities.
      • It will also focus on cleanliness, livelihoods, safety, skills, security, faster delivery of services in the heritage cities.
    • Initially, it will cover 12 heritage cities, namely Amritsar, Varanasi, Gaya, Puri, Ajmer, Mathura, Dwarka, Badami, Velankanni, Kanchipuram, Warangal, and Amravati.
  • Smart City Scheme:
    • It is a flagship scheme of the Government of India.
    • It was launched in the year 2015.
    • Aim: To develop smart cities (100) and improve the economic growth and quality of life of people.
    • It is operated by the Ministry of Urban Development.
  • Digital India Scheme:
    • It is a flagship initiative launched in 2015.
    • Objective: To make India a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.
