Correct Answer - Option 4 : 6

Given

Sum of the square = 169

Difference of numbers = 3

Formula / Concept used

Successor = number + 1

Calculation

⇒ Let the number be x, y such that x > y.

⇒  Then (x + y)2 = 169

⇒ Taking square root both sides

⇒ x + y = 13      ......(1)

⇒ And from given x - y = 3      ......(2)

⇒ On solving (1) and (2) we get x = 8 and y = 5

⇒ Clearly, 5 is the smaller

⇒ So, successor of 5 would be 5 + 1 = 6

∴ 6 is the feasible number
