Correct Answer - Option 1 : Palakkad

The Correct Answer is Palakkad.

  • Choolannur Pea Fowl Sanctuary, or Mayiladumpara as it is known locally, is Kerala's premier peacock refuge.
  • The 500-hectare enclosure is located in Palakkad and is reached through a trek through dense forests.
  • Choolanur Peacock Sanctuary is the only peacock sanctuary in Kerala and the first of its kind in India, dedicated solely to peacock breeding and conservation.
  • It was dedicated in 1996 to the memory of Induchoodan (alias K.K. Neelakantan), a legendary Indian ornithologist and writer who hailed from the nearby village of Kavassery.
  • Mayiladumpara Peacock Sanctuary is another name for it. Mayiladumpara literally translates to "the rock where peacocks dance."

  • Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary
    • It is a well-known tourist attraction in Kerala's Idukki District.
    • It is located at 450-748 metres above sea level and covers an area of 77 square kilometres in the Thodupuzha and Udumpanchola taluks of the district.
  • Chimmony Wildlife Sanctuary
    • It is located in the Thrissur District's Mukundapuram Taluk.
