Correct Answer - Option 3 :  ± 11

Given:

xy = – 24

(x + y)2 = 25

Concept:

⇒ (x – y)2 = (x + y)2 – 4xy

Calculation:

⇒ (x – y)2 = (x + y)2 – 4xy

⇒ (x – y)2 = 25 – 4 × (-24)

⇒ (x – y)2 = 25 + 96

⇒ (x – y)2 = 121

⇒ x – y = ± 11
