Given:

170 is divided,

first number : third number = 2 : 5

first number = second number – 10

Calculation:

Let the first number be 2x,

Then the third number be 5x,

Second number is 2x – 10,

According to the question,

⇒ 2x + 2x –  10 + 5x = 170

⇒ 9x – 10 = 170

⇒ 9x = 180

⇒ x = 20

First part = 2x = 2 × 20 = 40

Second part = 2x – 10 = 2(20) – 10 = 30

Third part = 5x = 5 × 20 = 100

∴ Option 3 is correct.
