Correct Answer - Option 3 : 10, 17

Given:

Difference between two numbers is 7

Six times the smaller + larger is 77

Calculation:

Let the numbers be x and y respectively,(x > y)

⇒ x – y = 7,

⇒ x = 7 + y

According to the question,

⇒ x + 6y = 77

Putting the value of x in the above equation,

⇒ 7 + y + 6y = 77

⇒ 7 + 7y = 77

⇒ 7y = 77 – 7

⇒ y = 10

Putting the value of y,

⇒ x = 10 + 7

⇒ x = 17

∴ The numbers are 17 and 10.
