Given:

Speed of train with stoppage = 36kmph

Speed of train without stoppage = 48kmph

Formula:

Speed = Distance/Time

Calculation:

Loss in speed with stoppages = 48 - 36 = 12kmph

In 1 hour, train covers 9km less due to stoppages.

Time in which train stops per hours = 12/48 = 1/4 

⇒ 60/4 = 15 minutes.

∴ Total time taken at stops per hour is 15 minutes.
