  • With a view to promoting generic medicines among the public and pharmacists, the government brought Anna Sanjeevani outlets and assigned them to Self Help Groups for maintenance.
  • As of date, across the State, there are 281 outlets that register a daily sale of 1.5 lakh and have a turnover of about 36 crores a year.
    • Right from the beginning, the outlets were maintained by SHGs.
  • Initially, the government used to pay monthly salaries for all the staff.
    • But, due to the losses taking place in the outlets of rural and interior parts of the State, the government decided to allocate them to individuals.

  • The Mid-day Meal Scheme is a school meal programme in India designed to better the nutritional standing of school-age children nationwide.
    • The programme supplies free lunches on working days for children in primary and upper primary classes in government, government-aided, local body, Education Guarantee Scheme, and alternate innovative education centres, Madarsa and Maqtabs supported under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, and National Child Labour Project schools run by the ministry of labour.​
