Correct Answer - Option 2 : 13 kg

Given:

M purchased x kg wheat the price of Rs. 40/kg, sold 12 kg wheat at price of Rs. x per kg while remaining wheat is sold at the price of Rs. 60 per kg.

He made overall profits equal to 8%.

Concepts used:

Profit % = (Profits/C.P.) × 100

Profits = S.P. – C.P.

Calculation:

M purchased x kg wheat the price of Rs. 40/kg, sold 12 kg wheat at price of Rs. x per kg while remaining wheat is sold at the price of Rs. 60 per kg.

⇒ Total C.P. = Rs. 40 × x

⇒ Total S.P. = Rs. x × 12 + Rs. 60 × (x – 12) = 72x - 720

Profits % = 8

⇒ 8 = {(72x – 720 – 40x)/40x} × 100

⇒ x = 25

⇒ Quantity of wheat sold at Rs. 60/kg = x – 12 = 25 – 12 = 13

Quantity of wheat sold at Rs. 60/kg is 13 kg.
