Firka Development Scheme
- Firka Development Scheme was a government-sponsored scheme, first started in the 34 firkas throughout Madras state, by T.Prakasam in 1946.
- This scheme emphasized providing housing, education, water supply, developments or roads, improvements of sanitation, etc.
- Selection of Firkas
  - On the basis of their backwardness.
  - Possibilities for increasing the production of handloom clothes and other cottage industries.
- Objectives
  - To tackle the rural problem as a whole.
