⇒ b^{- 2} = (√3 + 2)

⇒ 1/b² = (√3 + 2)

⇒ b² = [1/(√3 + 2)] × [(2 - √3)/(2 - √3)]

⇒ b² = (2 - √3)/4 - 3

⇒ b² = (2 - √3)

So, b² - (1/b²) = (2 - √3) - (√3 + 2)

⇒ -2√3

∴ Value of b² - (1/b²) is -2√3.
