Correct Answer - Option 3 : 102

Given:

The average runs scored in 15 innings is 38 runs.

His new average after the 16th innings is 42.

Formula used:

Average = Sum of observations/Number of observations

Calculation:

Let the runs scored by him in the 16th innings be X.

Average runs scored till the 15th  innings is 38 runs.

⇒ Total runs = (15 × 38) runs

⇒ Total runs = 570 runs

Now, according to the question

⇒ (570 + X)/16 = 42

⇒ 570 + X = 42 × 16

⇒ 570 + X = 672

⇒ X = 672 – 570

⇒ X = 102 run

Runs scored by the cricketer in his next inning is 102 runs.
