Correct Answer - Option 3 : 5 : 2

Given:

The required number must be added = 20%

Then, the number is increased = 50%

Calculation:

Let the first number be (a) and the second number be (b)

So, 20% of a + b = b + 50% of b which implies

⇒ 20% of a = 50% of b

⇒ (20/100) × a = (50/100) × b

⇒ a/b = 50/20 = 5/2

∴ The ratio of the first to the second = 5 : 2
