Correct Answer - Option 3 : 18/35

Given:

A bag contains x red and (x + 3)green balls.

The probability of getting a red balls is 2/5.

Formula Used:

Probability = Number of observation/Total number of observation

Calculation:

The number of green balls is (x + 3).

The number of red balls is x.

The total number of question = x + x + 3 = 2x + 3

According to the question:

The probability of getting a red balls is 2/5.

⇒ x/(2x + 3) = 2/5

⇒ 5x = 4x + 6

⇒ x = 6

The number of green balls = 6 + 3 = 9

The total ball = 6 + 9 = 15

The number of ways selecting a red ball and green ball together = 6C1 × 9C1 = 6 × 9 = 54

The total number of ways of selecting balls = 15C2 = 15/2× 14/1 = 105

The probability = 54/105 = 18/35

∴ The probability of getting a red ball and green balls is 18/35.
