Correct Answer - Option 3 : Opposite of the sun

The correct answer is the Opposite of the sun.

After a shower of rain, a rainbow is seen opposite the sun.

  • After it rains, the air in the atmosphere is filled with raindrops.
  • Each raindrop acts like a tiny prism.
  • If sunlight passes through raindrops at just the right angle, the light is split into an arc of colors with red on the outside of the band and violet on the inside.

  • Rainbows can be observed whenever there are water drops in the air and sunlight shining from behind the observer at a low altitude angle.
    • Because of this, rainbows are usually seen in the western sky during the morning and in the eastern sky during the early evening.
    • The rainbow can be observed on a sunny day if the water droplets are present in the air and the sun rays pass through it reaches the eye of the observer. In this situation, the observer can see a rainbow.
