Correct Answer - Option 2 : 16

Given:

X : Y = 1 : 3

New ratio → X : Y = 1 : 1

Calculation:

X : Y = 1 : 3

⇒ (X + 8) : Y = 1 : 1

Let, X = a units and Y = 3a units

⇒ (a + 8) : 3a = 1 : 1

⇒ a + 8 = 3a

⇒ 2a = 8

⇒ a = 4

⇒ Summation of initial digits = a + 3a

⇒ Summation of initial digits = 4 × 4

summation of initial digits = 16
