Correct Answer - Option 3 : Dr. Sampurnanand

The Central Education Ministry organized an ‘Emotional Integration Committee’ in 1961 under the Chairmanship of Dr. Sampurnanand. This Committee gave some recommendations to promote and strengthen national integration.

The important recommendations of the Committee as follows:

  • Re-organization of the syllabi at various levels primary, secondary, college, and university levels to promote national integration.
  • Giving due encouragement to extracurricular activities besides imparting formal knowledge to the students with the intention of promoting national unity.
  • A strong feeling of brotherhood and nationhood that sinks and ignores individuals, parochial linguistic and religious differences
  • A firm conviction on the part of each individual that he is an integral component of the whole social unit for the healthy development of self and community
  • Recognition should  be granted only to those educational institutions which do not practice discrimination on the grounds of caste, creed, religion, clan, etc
  • The basis of admission to educational institutions should be the merit of the student and not caste, clan, religion, class, etc.
  • Improvement of textbooks helps a great deal in giving a truly national perspective to the students. They can be made to understand their rich cultural heritage and feel proud of their nation.
