Correct Answer - Option 1 : x > y

I. 5x + 2y = 13       ----(1)

Multiply by 3 in equation (1)

⇒ 15x + 6y = 39      ----(2)

II. 3x + 4y = 10      ----(3)

Multiply by 5 in equation 3

⇒ 15x + 20y = 50      ----(4)

Subtracting equation (2) from equation (4)

⇒ 14y = 11

⇒ y = 11/14

Putting y = 11/14 in equation (1)

⇒ 5x + 2 × 11/14 = 13

⇒ 5x = 13 – 11/7

⇒ x = 80/35

⇒ x = 16/7

∴ x > y.
