Correct Answer - Option 1 : 160 liters

Given:

Quantity of mixture = 80 liters

Ratio of juice and water = 3 ∶ 1

Required new ratio = 1 ∶ 3

Calculation:

∴ Quantity of juice = 80 × 3/4

⇒ 60 liters

∴ quantity of water in it = 80 – 60

⇒ 20 liters

New ratio = 1 ∶ 3

Let the quantity of water to be added be x.

∴ juice : water = (60/20 + x)

⇒ 60/(20 + x) = 1/3

⇒ 180 = 20 + x

⇒ x = 160

∴ quantity of water to be added in the mixture is 160 liters.
